Xiaomi Pad 6 Review: Incredible Value for the Price
Xiaomi Pad 6 Review: Incredible Value for the Price
The Xiaomi Pad 6 delivers specifications that challenge tablets costing $200 more. At $349, you get an 11-inch 2880 x 1800 LCD with 144Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 870 processor, and quad speakers with Dolby Atmos. Xiaomi is not trying to out-feature Samsung but rather to undercut it on price while matching the core experience.
How We Reviewed: Our assessment is based on at least two weeks of daily use before scoring and real-world battery drain and app performance testing. Ratings reflect hands-on testing, benchmark data, and real-world usage. These recommendations reflect our independent assessment, not paid partnerships.
Display
The 11-inch IPS LCD runs at 2880 x 1800 resolution with a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate. This is a sharp, smooth panel that competes with tablets costing significantly more. The high resolution means text renders with excellent clarity, and the 144Hz refresh makes scrolling and animations exceptionally fluid.
Color accuracy is good with Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. Brightness peaks at approximately 550 nits, adequate for indoor use with reasonable outdoor visibility. Compared to the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro Gen 2 OLED, the LCD lacks true blacks, but the higher resolution and refresh rate compensate in other ways.
The 16:10 aspect ratio is standard for tablets and works well for both video playback and productivity. Widescreen content fills the display nicely, and split-screen multitasking gives each app a workable amount of space.
Performance
The Snapdragon 870, while not the latest chipset, remains a capable performer. Originally a flagship chip, it delivers Geekbench 6 multi-core scores around 3,500 and handles demanding tasks with ease. App launches are instant, multitasking is seamless, and the tablet never feels slow during normal use.
Gaming is where the Snapdragon 870 earns its keep. Genshin Impact runs at medium-high settings with stable frame rates. Call of Duty Mobile at high quality maintains 60fps. The 144Hz display benefits games that support high refresh rates, providing a noticeably smoother visual experience.
Thermal management is adequate with an internal cooling system that prevents aggressive throttling during extended gaming sessions. The tablet gets warm but maintains playable performance throughout a 30-minute Genshin session.
Software: MIUI Pad
MIUI Pad 14 based on Android 13 provides Xiaomi’s tablet interface. The software is functional but less polished than Samsung’s One UI for tablets. Split-screen multitasking works, floating windows are supported, and a PC-like mode offers a desktop interface with a taskbar and windowed apps.
The weaknesses are in the details. Third-party app optimization for the tablet layout is inconsistent, and some features feel rushed. Xiaomi promises two major Android updates and three years of security patches, which is shorter than Samsung’s four-year update commitment.
Bloatware is present but manageable. Xiaomi’s system apps include their own browser, file manager, and media apps, but most can be disabled or removed.
Stylus and Accessories
The Xiaomi Smart Pen 2nd Gen, sold separately at around $99, supports 4,096 pressure levels and magnetic attachment for charging. Latency is higher than Samsung’s S Pen, making it adequate for notes but less suitable for detailed artwork. The Focus Pen tip variant offers a pen-on-paper feel that some users prefer.
The optional keyboard case adds a trackpad and respectable typing experience for basic productivity. It works for email and documents but cannot replace a dedicated keyboard for extended writing sessions.
Battery and Audio
The 8,840mAh battery delivers 10 to 14 hours of mixed use depending on brightness and workload. The Snapdragon 870’s mature manufacturing process contributes to good power efficiency. Charging at 33W fills the battery in about 90 minutes.
Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos produce impressive stereo sound with wide separation and adequate bass. Movie and music playback sounds rich, and volume reaches room-filling levels. For a full comparison with a similar value tablet, see our OnePlus Pad vs Xiaomi Pad 6 guide.
Build Quality
The aluminum body feels premium with clean lines and a slim profile at 490 grams. Available in gravity gray, gold, and mist blue. No IP rating for water resistance. The build quality exceeds expectations for the price.
Final Verdict
The Xiaomi Pad 6 offers the best specifications-per-dollar in the Android tablet market. The sharp 144Hz display, capable Snapdragon 870, and impressive speakers create a package that challenges tablets at $500 and above. Software maturity and update commitment lag behind Samsung, but for pure hardware value, nothing touches the Xiaomi Pad 6 at $349. Score: 8.0 out of 10.
